If you are looking to buy a Gucci handbag as a gift, for yourself, or to ad to your collection for this holiday season, you probably fall into one of two camps: you already know which one you want or you are dazzled by all the variety of options and can't make up your mind.

If you're in that second category, I think I can help. I may not be able to pick the handbag for you, but at least I can narrow down the choices to just a few from the fifty plus bags that Gucci currently makes. Given your budget considerations, you'll probably be able to figure out which one is best from there.

For starters, in the higher bracket, my favorite has got to be the Britt medium bags. I'm especially fond of the black crocodile with the light golden hardware. The black leather with the light gold hardware is also a great one in this line and a close second. These bags are both simple and elegant.

In the more affordable range, I prefer the Goldie line (now called the Gold Gucci wallet). The “hobo” bag, which is much smaller than the above two, is nonetheless a beautiful little tote with a class zipper and an engraved ring detail. The slightly larger Goldie medium (Gold Gucci bag) with the beige and ebony fabrics is stunning and looks great with almost any ensemble.
